Enjoy this charming (and educational) 1941 documentary covers the process of producing wooden flatboats for use on the Ohio River, watercraft which have plied those waters since European’s first colonized the area.
The title screen says it is a “An Instructional Sound Film” produced by Erpi Classroom Films Inc. with the University of Kentucky. “Men are going to New Orleans. Their sons and women folk stay behind.”
I’ve known about this great film for years. I always wondered, did they build an authentic flatboat just for the film?
